America’s Next Top Model Talk
I recently did a Twitter Poll asking if others thought that FO was America’s Next Top Model. The replies were mixed, but for the most part she was either top pick, or close second. In my opinion she is right up top so far in this competition. I think that she looks totally model-ish with her new hair and her photos have been off the hook.
During last week’s episode she did better as a backup in the commercial and not so good when she was the main. But I still think that her personality is there and as long as her photos keep delivering, what can stop her?
I think Allison was the other Top Model mentioned in the poll that twitterers are pulling for. I know she has a unique look and all, but that is only going to get her a couple more episodes. As mentioned by judges before, she has only one face and we have seen how nervous she gets otherwise. I just don’t see the personality taking her anywhere, but maybe the next 2 episodes.
For some reason I see Celia as FO’s competition, but that is only based on the fact that she seems to be the favorite right now. I am wondering if that has anything to do with her fashion background? I am sure the judges like to see that as it shows you are somewhat connected to the industry, but is that enough to get her to the end of the show?
London is great and seems to listen real well. We all know what happens when you cannot seem to take orders from the ones directing you, right? You can get booted real fast like others from past shows have. I think that once the models understand it is still a job, they tend to get further and appreciate the time they put into modeling more.
Who is your favorite Top Model contestant and do you think they will go the whole way?
We are about 5 weeks into Cycle 12 and I am starting to ask myself if the judges are being harder on the models, or if the models just need that much more direction this time around. Do you know what I mean?
It seems to me the judges are really coming down a bit harder than the last couple cycles on ALL the models. Sometimes you can pick out the favorites, etc., but this year, I see an equal bashing given to all. From the crazy outfits to just plain being forward about how bad a photo turned out, the judges are speaking their minds right to the models.
I don’t think this a bad thing at all. Keep them focused on the prize and make sure they know that it’s not all about being pretty, hot or beautiful, there is other work involved. They go over and over about how you cannot just walk into a photo shoot and look good. I think the commercial episode this week really brought out which models had the talent to step it up.
Finally, I am really starting to dislike Paulina as a judge. Only because I think she is very “flippy floppy” on her critiques, but she is also a b*tch. She offers less help to improve and I think that is the part of the judge that is the most important. If I am failing at something, give me some advice, right?
This week was a tough show to watch. Usually I am pretty pumped about at least one model doing very well. This week, that wasn’t the case. None of the models stood out in the commercial, in my opinion. Clay Aiken visited the show to help the girls through the challenge, so that was a change of pace for sure.
This wasn’t that fun in my opinion. The girls had to act out a scene with Clay where he would be a Go-See and the models were acting out the scene with a specific emphasis throughout. They had to portray their lines arrogantly, threatening, and more. The girls all did somewhat the same thing, very well throughout, except Celia. She exploded into the scene like an actress from the 1920’s. It was very weird and I sort of thought she was making fun of the whole thing, but what do I know?
She didn’t win anyways, London did perfectly and fell right into the role, unfortunately that didn’t help her in the final commercial/photo shoot challenge.
This week it was actually a commercial for a Cover Girl rep. Last cycle winner, McKey, stopped by to help out and give some advice. Tahlia was asking who the “quite” one in the house on her show and how they “came” out of their little corner. McKey thought she was the quietest and gave a bit of info for her to follow, but I didn’t think she had a chance either way. With a few bumps and bruises the girls got through the show, but some actually did a better job as a backup than the main model.
Of course we cannot have an episode without some dissing and pissi-ness. While the girls sat down and enjoyed a nice dinner is how it all started. Afterwards, they were trying to clean up a bit and everyone was doing their share, except Natalie. Well, she did say that she does pretty much nothing and never had a job, right? But while the others were cleaning, she said “nice job cleaning guys” and that did NOT sit well with Aminat, of course.
I didn’t like this week. The judges did come down on a couple outfits, which is always entertaining, but without that, the show was a dud. Allison was busted wearing an outfit for the second time and Tahlia was wearing a dress she would wear to a spring wedding. Tahlia looked fine, but the judges just needed someone to poke at. But what was Allison thinking? Did she think the judges wouldn’t notice? Wow. Guess we’ll see if she makes it past next week.
Prediction of bottom two next week: Allison & Aminat
What do you think?
Even after last week’s mistake tweet, I had a chance to watch ANTM tonight and finally see how got sent home. To my surprise, but not really, Sandra got the boot after finally looking AT the camera, but not producing anything worth photographing.
Was it just me or does the challenge part of the show seem to be getting MUCH harder? This week the models were all about face and needed to pose (face only) to complete some of Tyra’s famous shots. Most of the models didn’t really seem to get what was going on, except London and Natalie of course. Most of the models did a horrible job, but I really don’t think they were ready for what Jay expected out of them. But hey, if you want to be a top model, you have to do what your told, whether you think you can do it or not. Needless to say Natelie won the challenge and gained 50% more frames during the shoot.
The photo shoot (with Keith Major) was something a tad different, but sticking with the “face” theme. The models were all done up with some crazy makeup, of mostly one color, then “poofed” with the same colored powder. Then they were to take the best face shots while pertraying the color on their face.
It was actually a shock to see some of the same faces we have been seeing all cycle, but man did Fo make it look easy AND hot (red was her color). Allisons face looked normal, same eyes, same mouth, same teeth, etc. Natalie probably had her worst shoot, even with the 50% more frames and Sandra looked clueless.
Even after last week’s Celia stage stealing effort, the house was only up in arms for a short time. Celia, Natalie, London were being ripped into by the others on Tahlia’s side. But what struck everyone as odd, was Celia and Tahlia ended up not saying anything and just watching the whole schpeel unfold in front of them. Seemed like a waste of time and Tahlia actually confronted Celia later in the day to make sure she knew that she felt embarrassed and disappointed.
Even though Celia seems to be a favorite in this cycle (don’t ask me), she was placed in the bottom 2 for her actions last week. The judges were turned off and Tyra was taking it personally. She got to stay, but everyone hoped she learned a lesson. I wish she would go, but there is still 2-3 with no chance, that have to go first. Sandra got sent home and, of course, she cannot figure out why. Looks like it wasn’t her attitude that got the best of her, she just isn’t more than a one shot wonder.
Next week we are going to see former American Idol Clay Aiken and the girls are going to be working on their acting skills. I hope it’s the “commercial episode” because that usually narrows things down quite a bit. Stay tuned!
I sort of made a mistake last night when I mentioned who got sent home a bit early. Well, it wasn’t early for me in the Midwest, but I forgot to realise that Alaska was way behind us, so at about 10:30CST I got on Twitter and announced the one getting sent home and that I would have an update today on the blog.
It wasn’t even 2 minutes later when I got a tweet back from a follower in Alaska, calling me a jerk and thanking me for ruining the surprise. I apologized right away, but I think I might have lost a follower. That being said, I will do my best to provide spoiler alerts before sending them out.
That being said, let’s take a look at last nights episode.
At first I was curious what type of challenge they were going to have and I think they got into that right away. The girls had to pose for an audience and that proved to be quite difficult for all but 2, Celia and Natalie. I didn’t really like the challenge, but when they announced what type of photo shoot they were going for, it made sense to me.
The girls had to take what they were taught by Bennie Ninja and pose as immigrants at Ellis Island. The key was NOT moving because they were actually using an old camera to shoot the models. Posing still was the key. Even though most of them didn’t do well in the posing challenge, the photos turned out pretty good for the most part.
After the challenge we had another meltdown by Tahlia and she stated she wanted to just go home. Allison and Celia took that to heart and thought that Tyra should know this. Of course, I didn’t see it coming that Celia was going to bring this up to her just as Kortnie was about to be sent home.
Stating she didn’t think it was fair that Kortnie should have to go home when Tahlia (who had the best shot this week) was ready to go home, saying so herself. Tyra didn’t take long to put Celia in her place. Tyra stated she didn’t think it was fair that Celia was talking for Tahlia. Too bad for Celia and good for Tyra.
I thought that London was put in her place as well, because her photo wasn’t too exciting. The look on her face made me think that she really didn’t see that one coming.
Better luck next week for all the models and let’s hope that Sandra doesn’t suck again, so we have to see her not get sent home. She is lucky, just as others were, there is others that suck more than her. I don’t see her attitude getting her very far. If you think otherwise, why not let me know and take the poll!
